Mission Statement

FUEL: Invisible Issues is an opportunity for students to learn and discuss APIA issues that are not commonly talked about in a safe and interactive environment. By gaining a deeper understanding of issues such as mental health, immigration, domestic violence, LGBTQ APIA, and racism, students will be empowered to become strong leaders in the community. This year, F.U.E.L. fosters support and brings visibility to pervasive issues in the community that have been ignored for too long.

ABOUT

  • F.U.E.L. is an acronym that stands for Forging, Understanding, Empowering, and Leading. â€‹

  • Every fall, the Asian American Student Union at the University of Maryland, College Park holds this leadership conference for the community. â€‹

  • The purpose of F.U.E.L. is to educate the community about APA issues through workshops, select speakers, and entertainment.

  • F.U.E.L. has a special theme every year designed to engage the community about specific APA issues. Past themes include FUEL the Movement (in memory of Vincent Chin) and FUEL the Pride (LGBTQ/APA Intersections and Collaborations).
